Basically you really can't beat Tommy's on 23rd and Geary for tequila selection, and Julio as your host. They have hundreds and hundreds of tequila's to drink, they have a club to join so you can get into their special events, like Tequilapalooza happening in two weeks, and they have the best damn margaritas anywhere. (I personally recommend going with Del Dueno Jerezito which makes the most cherry fruity margarita ever.) They also stock plenty of rare tequilas, but you will pay for it -- Black Label Chinaco, Regional, etc...From going there my collection has blossomed into the 50+ bottles that I have today :)

Maya is ok (I live 2 blocks from it) on 2nd and Harrision in SOMA, but their selection is much, much smaller, and tends to be more expensive. On the plus side, the food at Maya is spectacular, what I would call French food with Mexican ingredients, and easily blows away the diner fare at Tommy's.
