Subject: 令人不屑的美國人

　　　　日文課堂中，老師叫同學生討論「對身體健康的活動」，然後將結果寫在黑板上。中國女同學和中國男同學在完成了任務，在等待其他同學的時候以國語閒談，美國男同學突然走上黑板，寫了一句「不要用中國語談話」。

老師在「多喝水」、「不要吸煙」等文句中看見「不要用中國語談話」這句，便好奇地問該美國同學，為甚麼不說中國語會對身體健康，他回答說：「太吵了！」此舉引起全班哄動，老師還未知事態嚴重，還問中國人女同學怎樣回應，她說：「我覺得這樣是種族歧視！」法國女同學也表示同意。老師心知不妙，立即為全班打完場，說：「或者是美國同學聽不懂中國語，所以會感到孤單吧。」

那個中國女同學當然是我。心裡頭感到難受的不是因為自己身為中國人而受歧視，而是對一個美國人在課堂之中公然歧視中國人而感到震驚、憤怒，我很努力嘗試去理解那位美國同學，但無論我從甚麼角度去看，也不能認為這是無心之失或開玩笑。同時我也很努力去叫自己不叫一竹篙打一船人，可惜這件事還是令我對所謂講自由、講公義的美國人添了一分不滿。如果說自己的語言也被歧視，你這樣歧視人的態度更值得被歧視。

我們談世界大同、談包容、談和平，但只要一天世界上還有一個這樣的人，恐怕還是紙上談兵的事情。
