is to test for when food goes bad! Is the milk bad? Lemee try it! Are the eggs old? lemmee have a go!

My rule is, if your ok, don't give it yo the lil' one. Their digestive systems might not be able to handle the bacteria that might be mild for an adult. But I am especially leary of chicken and/or mushrooms. Those tend to be the first to go, and fast. Beef and pork I wouldnt worry about to much, but for some reason those two go really quickly.
i often eat expired foods. If it smells ok, it should be ok. The date set on them is just a warning, not a rule. its not like something is exactly bad on that day. I've had lotsa stuff go bad before the date. Just get the poker in there and smell!
Ol' reliable!
