>The movie was quite a bit better than Episode II.

>the other two? Whatever.

I agree, you don't need to see the first two to grok out what is going on in this one. Why bother with the other two you ask?

Why to make George rich of course..

>The basic story that is there (awesomely cool Jedi
>goes bad to save girl, winds up killing girl, but
>spawns hope for all) is workable. While everything is
>pretty convoluted, some of what the Emperor is doing
>finally makes a little more sense here.

I agree with the whole Emperor story. Actually his performance was the best of the lot. Listening to him would make me want to become a Sith lord and not one of those uptoght super bossy Jedi's.

>Ultimately, the problem comes from the character arcs,
>focusing on boring politics, and inconsistency in the
>Force "rules".

What has been done to "The Force" over the years makes me cry..George ruined it in these last 3 movies..

BAH!

I concur and can add nothing..

>There was a lot of talking in this movie. The

The Jedi don't accross that "good" in this movie. They seem very rigid in their thinking and not as concerned about a "greater good" for the society.

>The Jedi confuse me a great deal actually. They can

*meh*

This is due to the messing around with what the force is..It seems to be just a convenient way for George to move the story along and has no logic to it what so ever..This use of the force is one of the big strikes against this movie.

>Finally, the part that I suppose I found the most

You are using to much energy to analyze some of this stuff man..

>Two huge non-story problems with this movie. The
>wooden acting and the insanely busy special effects.

The special effects seemed very distracting in all the city scenes. Cool seeing the Falcon land though..

>I will give Hayden Christiansen credit for not being
>as bad as he was in Episode II...but he was still
>pretty bad. I'd actually be curious to see him in a
>non-Lucas movie. I'm curious how much of it is him
>and how much of it is Lucas. The romance and
>chemistry between Anakin and Padme just wasn't there.
>Even greats like Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee
>were less charismatic than mannequins.

All the acting was quite dull for the most part..except for the dude that played the Emperor..HE did a great job IMO.

>There were some great looking effects in this movie,
>but way too much. Space battles had too much going on
>and backgrounds were too complex. And, there were
>some effects that just didn't look good at all. The
>Greivous/Obi-Wan chase had some really bad stuff in it.

Yeah they focused much more on the SFX and not so much on the story. If they dialled down the FX and maybe revised the script a bit more..this could have been a better movie.

>The ship designs seemed better overall, but then
>Wookies have laser crossbows and don't use their
>alleged claws, so that kind of cancels each other out.

Wookies have claws?..Souphead is that true?
(soupy has read all the Star Wars novels..I differ to him and my youngest brother on all Star Wars nerdlike matters)

>At least 10 minutes could have been cut from this
>movie. It was edited to be way too long. There are
>too many shots of ships taking off and landing. It
>slowed down the flow of the story and wasn't necessary.

What also got me with all those take off and landing scenes is how quickly those ship would do that..From an animation point of view..I know a little about that stuff ;-) It was not so good..No anticipation or follow through or settling...

>And, I know this is an homage to the 1930s serials,
>but let me state this very clearly, I HATE wipes that
>are used as transitions. This had way too many wipes.

That part didn't bug me so much..

>I searched my feelings and am giving this a higher
>score than I thought I would, but I think it's fair.

4 out of 10
