In my family, we've got a kind of universal "if one cooks, the other washes" rule. So maybe she has the same opinion of things and was just doing her part to complete the meal. Just like laying out condiments completes setting the table.

Also, as a kind of anti-person person myself, I can tell you that I look for any and all activities to keep myself occupied while people talk amongst themselves and I'm not in the mood to join in--either because I don't know them, or have no interest in the topic of conversation.
