I went there, too. Here's a bit from my Rants page:

I had planned to see Ryan Stiles in person for the first time, but it turned out that he scheduled the Saturday night improv on his wedding anniversary and had to back out. To an extent, it's kind of an underhanded trick of the Improv not to alert people that Ryan cancelled his appearance and was in Seattle with his wife, but that's part of business; if people knew, that room wouldn't have sold out. I really felt sorry for Sean Masterson, who stepped up to the plate with the words, "I feel really shitty about telling you all this..." The energy in the room pretty much dropped with a thud at that point and Sean did his best to stay positive and enthusiastic throughout the first awkward moments. Of course, just the fact that Sean came up to the stage for introductions told me that Ryan wasn't around. I couldn't see Ryan sending up Sean on a night which had his name in the title--it's an ego thing. Like on "Whose Line" when Ryan pointed at Drew and said, "Some day I'm gonna buy that desk." He wants his share of the celebrity spotlight, you can bet on that.

There were a number of improvisers onstage--Jeff Davis, Jonathan Mangum (neverendingstore.com boss on "The Drew Carey Show") and Sean Masterson were the most recognizable. The others (two women, two large men, and three other men) did a good job also. I'm lousy with names but I think that one of them was Joel Murray.

The show was all right, although after the initial disappointment there was that continuous struggle with the room's energy. People were slow to offer up suggestions and to volunteer, which is probably one of the reasons that I made it up for "Moving Bodies." Sean just happened to turn in my direction when asking for a second victim... er, volunteer, and nobody else was jumping to the opportunity. So I stuck my hand up and he brought me up onstage to move one of the improvisors (don't remember the guy's name, but he wasn't much better at playing the game than I was so we had a nice balance going). I have noticed that Sean Masterson is onstage with an air of desperation/anxiety in comparison to someone like Brad Sherwood, who comes off as smooth, confident and in control. Not that Sean's any less of a comedian, but his presence isn't as reassuring to a large group.

And Saturday night's shocking moment--Jonathan Mangum without a shirt. Maybe it was just so disturbing that I blocked it, LOL. At one point during "Styles," he ripped open his shirt (it had snaps instead of buttons) to reveal a very flat, very white and very hairless chest. And me up close without my sunglasses. He started to re-fasten his shirt a minute after the unveiling, but had to pull it open again when the style called was "Porno." I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I think a short time later it became "Haiku Porno." Interesting style choice that Sean created, there.

Afterwards, I talked a little bit with Sean and Jeff, mostly the congratulations bit. It sounded like everyone from the show was up on the second floor watching a basketball game, 'cause they were cheering a lot.
