Subject: WL Brit Alums sighting

WL people show up in some unusual places sometimes.

Last night, I watched PBS's In Search of Shakespeare, Episode 2. The host, Michael Wood, was exploring one of the earliest theaters in England. He was talking about how that stage had hosted theatrical troupes from Shakespeare's time to The Comedy Store players. Naturally, that woke the WL half of my brain. The scene changed from the host in the empty theater to a crowded theater with 2 actors on stage and a group of actors watching from upstage. Wood went on to say that Shakespeare would have liked to attend shows like with one by improvisational comedians.

I started paying close attention. Lo and behold, there was Paul Merton. He and the other Comedy Store actor, Lee Simpson, received credit at the end of the episode. The other members of the troupe didn't. But I'm certain I saw Josie Lawrence in an all-white pants suit during the final bow. Merton and Simpson weren't featured much. I couldn't even understand what they were saying underneath the narration. It was just neat to see them though. Merton looked like he had raided Colin's ABC wardrobe for his outfit. He was wearing a bright red Hawaiian shirt.
