I took that clue as a general warning that he was reporting on something dangerous, not a specific rat reference.

I don't remember all of her clues either; I'd have to go back to the tape and watch again. But from what you've laid out, the clues don't seem as informative as I remember.

I guess I just liked the police informant clue so much that it colored my memory of all her clues.
