When Millionaire was on, WL was finishing higher than Drew Carey Show. The weekly Nielsen's had WL in the top 20 for awhile. NBC biffed it big time at 8:30 and ABC scored with WL. NBC sucked so bad with "Jesse", people affirmatively picked up the remote and changed the channel at 8:30, before Millionaire (WL wasn't coasting after Millionaire).

Success is all relative. WL doesn't cost nearly as much as those shows. When you have to fork over $6 million plus for an episode of Friends that show better be #1. ABC, using WL as a utility show, never really promoted it but what's amazing is that it still pulls in "5.2 or 7" million viewers and makes money for ABC. That's a success.

What's also interesting is that WL has picked up some of the only Emmy nods ABC has had over the past 3 years. I think all of these things considered, you have to call WL a success. It's certainly more unique than Friends...
