I think the ooooh became the running gag because it was the only sound they could make. I think it was kinda cut only one time after sound effects. During film dub when Ryan made the noise when the phone was ringing. That was it, though, after that it wore out its welcome because it got so predictible.

Last night's first episode on Family Channel had an example of a running gag that did work. The whole goat thing works because when it's brought back up it's unexpected. It was the last thing that I expected Kathy to bring up in Weird Newscasters and I'd forgotten about it in Foreign Film Dub until Ryan said something about a goat. It was working because when it was mentioned again it was unexpected. The ooooh just got predictible and lost any and all humor it may have had.
