I don't know if this was said or not... but I have been to tapings and this is definitely not the case. Drew picks the people...plain and simple. At the beginning of the tapings, you can see him glancing around looking for his choices...

The only show that I can recall hearing that the pages help pick the participants is the Price is Right - and I have no verification of that...only that I had heard years ago that people's behavior in line directly coincided with whether or not their name was called...hope this helps!
