Subject: Joseph Burriss murdered 1852

Joseph Burriss murdered by Austin Martin
Caught! - We mentioned two weeks since, the murder of a man near Harrisonville, in this county. The deed was committed on the evening of the 28th ultimo. The murdered man's name was Joseph Burriss, and he was killed by Austin Martin. Martin, immediately fled, on the commission of the act; but was arrested on Friday last at Maxville in Washington county. He was tried by an Examining Court on Saturday last, and committed to jail, in this place, on Sunday, to take his trial on the charge of murder.
