After reading The Prisoner of Azkaban for probably the 6th time, I have noticed something peculiar that was overlooked. Crookshanks acts rather human-like throughout the book! How is it that Crookshanks recognized Pettigrew as Scabbers? Simple. Crookshanks is an Animagus and is really a wizard who is closely related to James Potter. This is also the reason why Crookshanks was helping Snuffles get into the castle: The wizard Crookshanks becomes and Sirius Black are friends. I imagine that Crookshanks will reveal himself sometime before the end of the series, tying up some loose ends (like why James came out of Voldemort's wand at the end of The Goblet of Fire before Lily....wasn't James killed first? If so, the Priori Incantatum would have released the spells in reverse order, meaning James should have come out AFTER Lily!)
