This year marks my second as team leader of Queens of New York. As an official AIDS Walk New York team, we are helping in the fight against AIDS by participating in the world's largest AIDS fundraiser. Last year more than 45,000 walkers and volunteers hit the streets of NYC and raised a remarkable $5.1 million; all of which went to support GMHC and 50 other HIV/AIDS organizations in the NYC metropolitan and surrounding areas.
This year Queens of New York would like to make a significant contribution to the 2004 Grand Total with our team goal of $5000.
We have a lot of events in the works to help reach our goal, but we need your help to make it happen. You are cordially invited to join us for the 19th Annual AIDS Walk New York. This year's event will be held Sunday, May 16, 2004. We are looking for fun, energetic, and dedicated people to join our team and help make 2004 a success for us. Although our name is Queens of New York, you don't have to be a queen or from New York to be a member. Friends, family, and neighbors are also welcome, along with our fellow local, state, national and international queens from other areas.
Our first event of the year is the 1st Annual Penny Drive. From now through June, QNY will be collecting all those pennies you have lying around the house, along with any other loose change that's weighing down your pockets and purses.
