Hair needs to move naturally when you walk. On stage you still need *FULL* hair, but not big and sprayed helmets. long softly curled layers are in...sweeping hair that is full, but straight...and it is very common to see hair simply and elegantly pulled back to a low pony (sometimes called the 'kandace') and flipped under. Also, lots of teens wear the half pony tail with that cute flip at the the top, that way they can put their hair up without looking too old.
