The Long Road To My Own Heart



I went about looking, the impulse
To search was strong, but I only had
A vague idea what I was seeking.
I sought in ports and in bedrooms,
Opened up the door to many a heart
While my own was firmly shut…
Lost in the wilderness of mortal love,
I turned to God his silence so deep
That I had to find an answer by open
The portal to my heart…And found
A child that for too long had been
Denied the passage to the stars.
A child that wanted nothing more
Than be held by the warmth of humanity
And remembering the love in his
Mother's voice when she sang him
A lullaby.
