Hi Ron,
My '90 420SEL had the wire came loose on the passenger's side airbag. The light came on for years and I finally talked to a Mechanic who told me to remove the airbag to check it out. You need a 10mm with long extension to go from the under the dash to un-screw the airbag bolt.
Once the bag comes out, I can see that my wire was not connected. It was a easy problem to fix. Just don't mess with the SRS unit under your ash tray. I had heard that this unit has a mercury switch in their that could deploy your bags and I am sure you don't want that. Good luck, Tan
