Subject: What Diet soda's with Aspartame & Splenda do to me.

Aspartame(Nutra-Sweet, Equal) causes me to have petit mal seizures. I just get a blank stare on my face. During this staring episode I do not comprehend anything that's happening around me and when I came to, I was extremely sleepy and exhausted. I had these seizures all the way back in high school but no adult realized what was happening. They thought I was day dreaming. I used to have a friend that would be waving her hand in front of my face saying Earth to Brenda when I was coming back to. I didn't notice her at all until I started coming out of the seizure. I no longer have these seizures anymore. The new artificial sweetener Nutra Sweet, also known as Aspartame had come on the market in diet soft drinks during my high school years. The Nutra Sweet(Aspartame) was the culprit of my seizures. I was 35 years old before I found out what was causing my seizures. A friend of mine who had just been diagnosed with MS told me that her Grand Mal seizures had been found to be triggered by Aspartame. She was in the Doc's office when she had a massive seizure that nearly killed her. She had just consumed a diet Coke in the waiting room of the doctor's office. They tested her in every way possible and asked many questions and it all boiled down to Aspartame. She came off anything that pertained to the sweetener and she's never had a seizure since. I have done the same and haven't had a seizure since. I check all labels now looking for Aspartame(Nutra Sweet). If the product has it as an ingredient, I don't purchase the product.

My neurologist, Dr. Lee Archer had me on Neurontin for my seizures. He wasn't surprised when he learned what I had found out about the Nutra Sweet causing my seizures and he wasn't surprised when I discovered that the new sweetener Splenda was the culprit of massive migraines I was experiencing earlier this year that landed me in the hospital getting intravenous Valium and Demerol and trigger point injections in the side of my head. I discovered it was the Splenda after my hospital visit. I drank 2 Diet Rite Cola's(which has Splenda) after my hospital ordeal during Memorial Day weekend and the second cola I drank nearly killed me. I haven't had these sort of migraines since I stopped drinking the Diet Rite Cola's. I now avoid Splenda. I've gone back to using the old Saccharine. I get it at Kroger and it's called Necta Sweet. It's in a clear bottle with a green lid and has a white and green label and the Saccharine is in tablet form.

They say Saccharine causes cancer. Oh well, I'm on LDN and it's good to ward off cancer.
