But his somewhat distant tone didn’t last long before the conversation topic was brought back to Echo and her stepmother. “Yah... you know, the typical dreaded stepmother.” A smile smile hinted on her lips, bit drifted away with their conversation. Silent rose between them for a moment until curiosity killed the cat and Echo broke it. “What do you wonder about? That life couldn’t be worse?” Her eyes rose to his face again with interest for his response. Echo liked to listen to people, she liked to hear their views. Then she’d store them in her memory, when she felt she had enough facts and evidence she’d make a decision for herself.
