On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are

It was only October and she was already getting sick of studying. Well, it wasn't so much that she was sick of studying, that she was just missing home - and therefore everything about this place was getting on her nerves. She was suffering severely from surfing withdrawal - it was hard to go from getting up every morning to hit the world-class waves before school back home, to maybe getting out there once or twice a week for some simply ordinary ones here. For a moment, she lingered standing there at the top of the steps uncertainly, then finally decided she wasn't going to be driven all the way inside by a little 'sprinkle', which by that time had developed into a full-fledged shower. So, she dropped onto one side of the porch swing, and propped her Puma-clad toes up on the railing and crossed her arms underneath her chest, slouched down into the seat with head resting back...
