Jake took no notice as the woman settled herself nearby, sure his eyes glanced up for a moment as he detected movement in her peripheral vision, but he wasn’t one to stare. Jake was one of those people who tended to be focussed completely on his own little world- he wasn’t selfish, just determined. Once he put his mind to something it tended to everything he thought about- while other things tended to fall apart. Like his apartment for example, which had a ton of boxes, lids opened, contents dug though, but nothing except the essentials unpacked. He barely noticed the fact that he was constantly weaving though boxes and had no food in the fridge not to mention that he had been here almost three days and he had yet to dig his phone out of the boxes. His new law office on the other hand was a vision of perfection. Of course, as she spoke his eyes retreated from the paper and lifted up to meet her gaze. A smile tipped his lips upwards at her statement and he shook his head lightly as he spoke. “Only if you actually read them.” The truth was it had taken him a matter of oh, about five minutes to skim the headlines- none of with interested him. Glancing down he closed the last page and pushed the paper back into the centre of the table. He took a sip of his coffee, leaning back on the chair. His eyes drifted to the petite female once again “I’m Jake by the way”.
