Subject: *Weary*

She watches the others as her children stand close. With a heavy sigh, she turns to them, pride shining in her eyes at how they have grown. She reflects on how this place once was, when she and Sundancer were the only two on the island, and marvels at how the place has come alive since then. She shakes her head, scolding herself slightly. Why is she so stuck in the past, in her youth? Ah... she thinks, that is it. My youth. The old mare sighs, realizing that she is the oldest mare there. Her silver coat is now flecked with white and she is beginning to feel the strain of her years, the reminants of battle wounds, and even her vision is not what it used to be. She blinks, only realizing now that she is thinking about it that everything seems dim and blurred. She sighs, knowing what that means; the scar tissue from the cuts in her eyes, from that long ago battle, has started to form over her eye. She wonders if it is time for her to be going, and even her children have been alienated from this herd, lost in time, some of the first foals, now all but forgotten. She sighs. She and her children do not seem to fit here anymore, but then that could be just a wearied mind playing tricks. Her head seems to spin, and she lies down, feeling dizzy.
