Subject Author Date In MT and many other states, the majority of the girls competing have never competed in pageants and have no idea what style etc would look good on them. They are not willing to invest a lot of $$ in a dress that they may just have to return. Also, if they can find an inexpensive dress they feel confident in, more power to them!
