"Zona" actually loved "Lil Wil" and wanted him to stay, but wanted him to learn how to use his amazing skills w/out having to have the ball in his hand all the time. Unlike high school where he could get away w/that, most college "D" can stop a player like that. When you've got 4-5 other all americans on your team you got to play more team ball. Also you gotta play real "D" in college (Wil may have had a problem w/that). From what I heard, he wanted to step right in and be "the man" but there is a lot to learn in college, especially depending on what kind of high school program you came from (no Dis to "Street", I happen to like the guy, but how much did Wil actually learn about the game on the next level at Crane?).

In SP's case, I really believe he'll be steping on to a "final 4" team in Champain next fall. He'll have a lot to learn about the game at that level and will get bumped and banged by B10 veterans every day in practice his frosh year. But that will be good for him.

MSU will probably lose Davis and maybe KT or one other star guard/wing player after this year, while IL will return everybody and be a much better team. I think this was a smart move in the long run for SP. He'll have to fight for "scraps" of playing time as a frosh. If he gets anywhere between 12-20 minutes/game that will be good. But his soph year IL will have graduated 3 bigs and he should get major minutes on yet still a good team. Not a "stupid" choice from this prospective. Evidently he put a lot of thought into this decision.
