However, all that nasty stuff being said about Coach Allen is ridiculous. He happens to be an outstanding coach who runs a fine program. His only fault is that he is the only coach around who actually holds his athletes accountable for their boneheaded actions in the classroom and in the community. This honorable attitude leads to him losing many top notch talents through suspensions from the team, guys who could just coast at other shithole schools and behave however they want, and still remain on the team anyway. In the early nineties, back when young basketball players were coachable, Al's teams were superb, and his struggles (record-wise) in recent years may be directly attributed to an inept athletic department whose ludicrous policies restrict growth of his program (but that's another story altogether). These two guys should have swallowed their vanity and attended their public high school, with the caring coach who would've nurtured their development as players and people. The purpose in my posting this message, however, is to let everyone know that the joke is on them, not Allen. His team this year is totally stacked even without these two All-State level talents. They are incredibly deep (up to 10 guys have the capability to start on almost any other good high school team), unlike West Aurora, which will allow them to play and beat any high school team anywhere. Most people will be surprised to hear that they actually beat West Aurora during the summer league at Oak Park. Pruitt and Cerasoli, if the stories are true, have become selfish,stupid, soft, and pampered players, under a coach whose program is under intense scrutiny with the string of top transfers it has brought in recently. If the two teams meet again, Oak Park will win, Al Allen will laugh mercilessly, and Pruitt and Cerasoli will cry for having ever had the stuck-up attitude that caused them to abandon their home-town teammates.
