Subject: Hyde Park... what can I say - the kids can play!

They did it again. Hyde Park continues its remarkable opening to the season by knocking off last year's Public League runner-up, Julian, 66-63 in overtime. The Indians are now - dare I say, Walter Eckersall - 5-0.

The man who I thought had to step it up was Stephon Hannah. 20 points, 17 in the second half - including a game tying 3-pointer with 57 seconds in regulation.

Lorenzo Ecford did show up for the Jaguars and tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds. Definitely impressed with bench leader Jim Brown - also with 14 points. Kid can hit the 3 with no problem.

James Watson had a decent game, wound up with about 8 points. Really dum fouls down the stretch, allowing H-P to get back in the game.

And yes, the home-cooking was there. Chris Head in referee stripes - weird, but he and his partner let the kids play, although I did see three missed goaltending calls - all which could have been Hyde Park buckets.

Nonetheless, the Indians are for real this year. Liked the way Hassan Ali chipped in late in the 4th quarter. Wayne Robinson also contributed from the outside nicely. Mark Easley? Two words - offensive rebounds. He had them, Julian didn't.
