"Well talk to her about it baby, tell her ya ain't no twelve year-old. You don't need your sister to babysit you. But tell her nicely.." He grins at her fondly, stroking her forehead, pushing the hair gently from her face.

He stopped in front of her, his breathing increasing noticeably. He took her hand and before he could think otherwise, dropped to one knee. "Nicky..I know this isnt the time or the place..but somehow I just can't help it." He smiled weakly..nervously up at her. "Nicky, will you marry me?" He flips open the box, the diamond solitaire perched upon the silver band, gleaming under the flourescent lights. Removing it, he holds it above her finger, poised to slip it on.
