Subject: Memories consume...like opening the wound

he'd gotten a call from the babysitter about 10 minutes ago that Abrianna had never called to check on matthew...or come to pick him up. In turn he called the hospitol and said she was there...so he stopped and picked up matthew and hurried to the hospitol. He snatched Matthew from the seat...hurrying inside...stopping at the information desk and asking for her room number only to be led to the room. The sounds of machines brought back some memories he'd rather not have opened again...just being there got to him. He stopped in the door of the dark room...holding Matthew who had his thumb stuck in his mouth and asleep with his head on Caleb's shoulder

She wasn't in the ICU but she wasn't in wicked great shape either. Her face was battered quite badly, a particularly bad black eye evident, and the damage only got worse as it went down her body - she'd completely written off her car - falling asleep at the wheel was no fun. Her left leg lay in a cast, and beneath the blankets, severe swelling and bruising on her ribcage from a couple of broken ribs - and she was sore - but still too doped up to figure it out.
