Steed swallows, his throat suddenly dry. Lips part slowly, speech coming hesitantly, his voice deeper, stronger, yet holding no hope, no plans, simply terror and dominance. "Fire.... " Soft word lingers upon the breeze, washed away, as his promises had been, as hopes and dreams had so easily slipped from his grasp, leaving him to fall into oblivion. Dial falls as his neck fails to hold it in his helpless state. He chokes on his next words, releasing them in a sob. "I'm sorry.... " Once more, the words float, perhaps meaningless, backed by simple emotions.
