David ALLAN Coe, we didn't even know it was your birthday but now we're drinking bourbon in your honour, yo. Listening to "Take This Job and Shove it" at the ranch, we had to know if you were still around. "Happy 62nd Birthday you quality entertainer" quoth one fine cowgirl in our midst. So on to the internet we made a search and there y'are, and it's your birthday. The chances are one in 365 that this email would get to you today(if it gets to you at all) Who'd a thunk it? So, here at Nerveland we want to know when yer headin on up to our northern iceland of a country, namely Canaduh. I can tell you, there was some roar that went up at the ranch when we logged in to davidallancoe.com and saw in your bio SEPTEMBER 6...this very night!! Well, we toasted your talent with a bottle of Early Times, your life, your loves, your losses...if we may be so bold as to call anything in a legend's life a 'loss'. Your work has brought us inspiration, has helped us get "stoned on love", and has taught us to "be faithful to the bottles in our hands." I fear I have barely expressed a fraction of the passion and potency of your music in all our lives, because today, David Allan Coe, your day of birth, is no day to hold back. We CELEBRATE you, David Allan Coe, and if our mothers are ever wrongly convicted and sent to prison, we want your music playing on the cassette player in the truck when we go to pick her up in the rain.
