I am not familiar with David Allan Coe or his music, but I was told that DAC fans are all racist, and I find that very hard to believe. I wondered if someone could possibly post their thoughts on that. I have heard that DAC has a great deal of southern roots, but I would find it hard to believe that his music promotes racism.

I have an answer for you: Absolutely NOT. However, when you have such a widespread fan base you are going to have the assholes in the bunch. I guess that DAC has some racist fans just like Hank Jr., or even Snoop Doggy Dog's racist black fans, or anyone else in the biz.
I was at the show Saturday night (3/3/01) and there was one a-hole cursing about n---rs, but he was quickly told to shut up by several REAL DAC fans, and he did.
The real fans like myself try not pay any attention to those who are in the minority (not color minority, but racist minorities). In case you missed it, DAC was on Howard Stern answering the types of questions you just posed. Take care and keep listening!
