Sitting here watching my Live At Billy Bob's DVD for the 100th time and hear the song Will You Remember Me again. I think about a man who spends almost the first 30 years of his life in and out of prison. Then a trip to Nashville and you and your hearse are parked in front of the Ryman signing autographs The Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy. First Penitentiary Blues and Requiem For A Harlequin. Then alot of songwriting. Then your break into country with the album The Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy. From there you put out 1 to 2 albums each year through the 80's. Then with no record company, you still find a way to get your new songs to us. Plus all of the years of great concerts. Radio won't play your songs (except for the same 2 or 3) Nashville acts as if you didn't even exist and the CMA won't invite you to an awards show (including the year that they knew that you had won).Plus you went through 5 divorces. You endured more than most people will ever have to and still kept on for your fans. Now after 35 years you ask WHEN MY LIFE RUNS OUT, WHEN I AM DEAD AND GONE, WILL YOU PLAY MY SONGS, WILL YOU REMEMBER ME? That answer is easy. FUCK yes David I will remember you and play your songs every day until my life runs out and I am dead and gone!
