3. I can't speak for everyone... right now I don't play because the HDD in my new computer is only 2 gb. Hopefully this will be remedied in a couple weeks.

Because 10 i an easier number for western culture to grasp. We tend to count in base ten, due to our ten digits I would assume. Therefore powers of 10 are eas for us to grasp.
