Some of my fondest memories of childhood are those at Camp Nachas, from the plays we put on (Oklahoma, West Side Story) to getting double ices for making an impossible half-court shot in the gym. On the last day of summer, we'd go to Marine Park for a grand water battle, balloons, water guns, etc. I was in love with a counselor named Helene, slight of frame, freckled, and raven-haired. On bus rides, counselor Dave would lead us in choruses of "My Ding-a-Ling." Close to the camp there was a road with a giant dip. Our bus driver, John, once took us on it about 20 times in a row. The other buses all followed suit. It was like being on a roller coaster. I loved that old camp.
