In reply to: Noah 's message, "Life" on 12:10:29 01/20/05 Thu

A short, bitter laugh passes through her breath, its tone clinging onto the atmosphere for mere few seconds before diminishing into oblivion. It was a laugh of mockery, a mockery of his words ‘I could get the child anything she wished’, the aspect had a rather arrogant ring to it and though she knew in her heart he hadn’t meant it that way the opportunity was to good to pass up. “And then, when the child grows into a young woman who will be frowned upon by many simply because she is not of noble birth, will you continue to shower her with gifts or push her off to the side?” she questioned pungently.
Sighing softly her gaze drops to the ground and her thought pattern becomes heavily laden with the pristine child. The girl held the type of sagacity about life that most failed to acquire until they were well into their forties and fifties, she was unique and had she been born into wealth there was no telling where she would go. But she wasn’t, she was just another child deprived of wealth and sent out to the streets to work, to earn her keep. The only difference between Ivy and other peasant children was the fact that she had no family to return to at the end of the day; she had only herself and a screaming mistress with a shriek that resembled the screech of a parrot in the Amazon. “She, Noah, has the luxury of belonging to herself.” It was a simple statement, however filled with animosity it was, and spoken calmly.
This castle had become her life on his leave; it had taught her the Roman hierarchy through shame, anguish, and serventry; however amiss the teachings were from the book. Her lessons had been learned well, though her soul was a healer her physical form was viewed much differently. She was nothing more than a servant, a mere tool to be called upon by nobles and the like when they required, or wanted, assistance. “I work for the matriarch, the woman who’s in charge of the servant ward.” She spoke simply then paused before continuing, “Just because you left didn’t mean I got a free ride. I work to earn my keep; I was not permitted to leave because you could not be proven dead.”
