Subject: Guild Rules, Profanity, and Harrassment. The Final Word...

Now that the debate over what should be deemed offensive or not offensive has died, I want to take advantage of this moment and spew forth, once again, the official policy on the matter, which I might add, has not changed nor will ever change.

I needn't go into the more common words that are generally known to all to be vulgar, profane, or obscene. All of those words are prohibited, TO INCLUDE the masking of letters with characters, and/or abreviations (acronyms) when a letter within the abreviation represents a word that is considered vulgar or profane. Reverse spelling of these words are also prohibited. Words that are normally deemed as slang terms are not prohibited, but can be considered a form of swearing which is coarse, uncouth, and rude by some. If any member should find such terms to be offensive, that person has the right to ASK IN A POLITE MANNER for the individual to refrain from using those terms or words in their presence. At that time, all individuals in the presence of the offended party are expected to comply in the interest of harmony and good order. In short, your rights end when they infringe upon the rights of others. Failing to heed the request of any offended party or arguing the definition of what is and is not profane, vulgar, and/or offensive will be construed as harrassment which is also prohibited under guild rules. The same holds true for any offended party that fails to maintain a polite and respectful demeanor.

Let me reiterate that this always has been and always will be the policy concerning this matter and is not up for debate nor will the High Council entertain any suggestion for changes to this policy. Such an endeavor is not feasible in such a culturally diverse organization such as PoL.

I also want to take this time to say that all of our forum administrators will immediately delete any post that CAN BE CONSTRUED (INTERPRETED) as open harrassment of another member. Personality conflicts are bound to occur and it is up to the parties involved in the conflict to act responsibly and respectfully toward one another. What you say about someone on the other side of the computer screen is your business, but what is said within the confines of this guild (to include all member forums, guild games, alliance games, non guild games with guild characters where other members are present, or any b.net channel with guild characters where other members are present) becomes everyones business.

The High Council and the Guilds Council exist to serve the interests of the guild AT LARGE and will not hesitate to take any action that it sees fit to rectify any given situation. You can trust that we will do our best to remain impartial and will listen to both sides to any given issue. Our ultimate goal is to be fair with everyone involved, but the final decision will be based upon that which best serves the guild as a whole.

For the High Council,
Warmonger~PoL
Guild Security Officer
