Author: The Priestesses of MNadra
Subject: A Chalice, A Countess, A Duke

"Come here," Desma's voice whispered from near the well. "Come see."

Her sisters shifted to the stone circle and bent slightly to look into the pool. Eidothea's long black hair flirted with the water's surface.

"We told her not to go to him," Cosma, the second eldest murmured, turning her black eyes on Eidothea. "She knew it was the wrong choice."

"For -herself-," Eidothea, the eldest and most wise, reminded them. "Whether it was best for the Chalice, and the land, that is another question. We know she would die to save Glass."

"Wither away to a husk, like so many of her vapid counterparts..." Desma had a tendency to be a bit morbid, distracted by any unpleasantry her mind could cling to.

"The Machine will be the end of us all."

"Nonsense. You know the power of the Chalice is far stronger than some wretched nervosa!"

"It's out of their control," Desma said, her eyes a bit distant. Visions were common to them all, floating in and out of their minds often in tandem. Cosma and Eidothea as well tipped back their heads, sharing Sight.

They saw into a stone chamber deep in the bowels of a large castle. The freehold fire burned it's angry emerald in the distance, making the pale skin of Countess Cedoline's face an eerie green. Beside her was the dark figure of Duke Cyric, his blonde hair catching the same faint light. They stood beside the oval blackness of a scrying bowl, and whatever they saw caused the Countess great horror. As she shook her head in numb disbelief, she moved to shake herself from Cyric's arms, but he held her tightly, forcing her to watch. The Duke was as cold and still as the water in the ebony bowl, looking calmly down at the vision they shared.

As tears of panic slipped down Cedoline's flawless skin, a tiny mechanical arm could be seen reaching out of the water, little metal fingers grasping the edge of the black bowl.

Cosma, Desma, and Eidothea gasped in unison as the vision faded. Desma fought to catch her breath as Eidothea calmly turned to look out over the waters surrounding MNadra.

"Something must be done. It's time to alert the Baroness."
