Date Posted: 17:41:13 10/13/03 Mon Hi, Wormwood. So this'll be semisacreligious, but I bought the live at Doc's Landing recording and just assumed it would suck ass despite your well-demonstrated skill in kicking it. And gahDAMN it sounds good, and I mean seriously, very impressively and professionally excellent. Was this Bob's doing? A high commendation, and of course to the band, too. Some negative feedback/positive criticism, however: I work in the print industry and can't help but notice and have misgivings about the packaging. What's up with the low-res logo and gradient effect? I don't want to undermine the time put into it--all things are needed and appreciated, and I don't want to straight-up knock it, but it really doesn't reflect the content on the disc itself. Taking a marketing perspective, it doesn't communicate, "Check me out, I fucking rule!" ...and it should, because it does. I know such things are limited by time and money and software and hi-res dpi printers and know-how. I respect that. And I know it's just something you're selling mostly to people who already know what you're about. But I do think everything you "produce" as such or that is produced in and for your name demand close attention and consideration. So yeah, I'm a design nazi. I'm not an artist in the drawing respect, but I do know what looks good and how to pleasingly arrange, uh, stuff, and improve upon the existing. And if you want it, I'd be glad to help out any way I can, even if it's just proofreading type stuff (which is more future thinking, but I want to throw it out there). I'd also be a good and willing person for advice when it comes time for the EP inserts, seeing how I look at dozens of them (professionally!) every week, know what to look for, and get paid to make them not suck, both aesthetically and technically with, uh, technical snags that are at issue with printing. This all depends on how you go about it, of course (professionally or do-it-yourself--either way, I want to help). You are an incredible band, truly, and you are surrounded by supportive resources (such as Bob and Kevin). USE US, at least me (not wanting to speak for everyone, heh). --Meg Holle www.deepsicks.com deepsicks@juno.com ps--do you think the EP will be ready by Annual Gift-Giving Time? 'cause I'd certainly take a few off your collective hands for solistice/christmas/hanukah/kawanza/the big family get-together/insert_holiday_here.
