Subject: Families challenge Sinn Fein over extradition

Greetings from a wet & windy Derry
I’d be grateful if you could help raise awareness of this, although I am not a Sinn Fein Supporter, I am friends with one of the men involved. And that the Sinn Fein leadership have a lot to answer for. For the sake of their own political and financial gain they seem happy to hang to men out to dry. With their participation on the policing board imminent they (SF) feel that they can neglect republicans.
Best Regards
Urris

From the Derry Journal
Families challenge SF over extradition
The families of two Derry republicans who are currently facing extradition from the Republic of Ireland have challenged Sinn Féin to state why they do not appear to be supporting the two men.
Tommy Mellon and Fearghal Melaugh were arrested in Donegal on 24th July and taken to court in Dublin where an application for their extradition to Northern Ireland was made. The pair were released on bail under the condition that they present themselves to the Gardaí every day.
Their families in Derry have launched a campaign against the extradition and graffiti supporting the two men has appeared on walls in a number of areas of the city in recent days.
"It is a disgrace in this day and age that republicans are still being extradited to face unjust Diplock Courts. We want to know what Sinn Féin are doing about this injustice. The fact that there seems to a reluctance to publicly back the two men has caused ill feeling amongst family members and republicans in general. We want to know why this is? Is the leadership embarrassed by the case?" the families' statement said.
