I've heard a lot of existing people have been threatened with loss of their jobs. A new broom sweeps clean. How about Shookie as Police Commish, Tom Koulos as Commish of the water front and DPW, Londa in charge of Youth and Recreation, Ned, you can be in charge of Arts and Entertainment and I will take Economic Development. That should give them a start on their search for new people to fill all the positions.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to seek any appointment, since I'll be moving out of the City sometime in early 2006 - but if you are serious, Gene about doing something other than whining then my hat's off to you. I say, "Go for it!"

We need to revamp the whole Commissioner, Commission and Committee system so that it makes positive differences rather than simply facilitating back-room deals. We never had a better Police Department, with better morale and more efficiency and professionalism than we had when Jeff Bagnall was Commissioner - which proves that who the Commissioner is does matter.

Hudson needs more effective, involved, dedicated leaders and involved citizens in every area. After years of having blocked everyone except members of "Our Gang" from every position of responsibility and authority, and having selected appointees solely on the basis of political favoritism, it seems a new eara id dawning. Let's hope so, for all our sakes.

So if you feel you are the best qualified candidate, nominate yourself and submit your resume - or if you know someone who is able, qualified and willing, get them to submit. Hudson has lots of talent that's been going to waste. Let's get everyone involved.

My suggestion for Tom would be to create a post of Commissioner of Icomprehensible Gobbledygook to Provide Verbal Comic Relief for the City. Professor Irwin Corey made a very sucessful career out of what Tom gives away for free.
