In the political game the players are changed but the game still goes on. Ned, if your cronies are elected nothing will change, just the names of the players, they will do just the same as the ones they are bitching about, only worse. The ethics you talk about are as old as mankind and his nature is to control when he or she has the power. Hope that answers your question about ethics.

And you don't think we should make a distinction between those who have exhibiuted un-ethical behavior and those who haven't? Because according to you, it's all just a matter of time?

That's a hopelessly cynical attitude, Gene, defeatist and nihilistic. If you really feel that way, that everyone is corrupt and to expect - much less demand - honesty and decency from people is hopeless, then I feel sorry for you. Maybe that is how you and those you know are - but there are many people who are not like that.

That is not my world and it is not the world I want for my friends, neighbors and family. I won't accept it, and I'll work for something better.

I believe that some of the candidates who are running for office in Hudson are people of principle. I have no reason to believe otherwise. I have seen their behavior in the past, and I have seen some of them sacrifice self-interest for the public good. None of them are perfect - any more than we are, Gene - but some of them are much better than others.

If you can't tell the difference between someone who makes a backroom deal to take money from the taxpayers in exchange for political gain, and someone who is running because he or she wants to create positive changes for Hudson - that is your lack of discernment and discretion.

Maybe you've just been exposed to Good-old-boy politics for so long that you don't understand that there can be anything else and don't recognize anything else when you see it? I hope and expect that in November you will get a very big surprise.
