We started the Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation 3 yrs ago. It is our goal to raise money for research, educate the parents and heighten awareness in the communities about childhood cancer. 70% of funds raised would go to research at hospitals and institutions specializing in NB, 30% would go for education and awareness. We are trying to make this a national organization for neuroblastoma. We have held 2 conferences and will be a hosting a 3rd one in 2004. But trying to get families involved to help us raise money for research has been difficult. Many families prefer to raise money for a specific hospital, which is great. We would like to work with families to do fundraisers perhaps in their child's name and benefiting our foundation. That way they don't have to set up separate foundations themselves. It works exactly the same way as if you were giving to the American Cancer Society. Then we can determine, through grant applications from the researchers, which hospital at which time is doing research that needs funding. Drs. Pat Reynolds, John Maris and Steve Grupp are on our medical advisory committee. Dr. Sue Cohn is a consultant.

We need to unify our efforts. We are all going in separate directions. We can't win if we don't consolidate our efforts on a more cohesive basis.

Let me know what you think?
