I know several people have done continuations of Buffy using an eighth season and yada yada buthere's my turn. The Cross and Stake season 8 made it thier own by stopping the original Timeline in February 2003 with the Episode "Storyteller:7x16". Many others have lost the familiarity by moving to a place other than Sunnydale.

I will combine the two, everything that happened in "Chosen" still happened with the exception of Sunnydale being swallowed. Instead Spikes soul just burnt out the uber vamps and any creatures living "beneath" Sunnydale. The Show will continue from then forward.

Iyari Limon is "contracted" to appear in 10 Episodes so far. D.B Woodside is also contracted to several episodes. The slayers will be around but only for the first handful of episodes. Both Giles and Faith will not be present, though Giles may appear later in the season. Anya will not appear.
