I don't get the whole evaluation of a "table" and I don't see how it could be said that Hamlet applied himself to revenge his father. He never kills Hamlet. He always shies away. As we said in class, Hamlet can't "get to killing."
Shakespeare doesn't use the character of Hamlet but instead the character of Laertes to fulfill the plot of revenge.
