Somehow I don't think this bothered the family, because in their minds Gregor died the second he turned into a giant bug. Maybe deep down they knew that the real Gregor was in there somewhere, but they were so intent on getting rid of the grotesque creature that they just convinced themselves that the person wasn't in there anymore. So they saw the death of the bug as a relief that the thing that had taked over their son's body was finally gone. Not like they cared about Gregor much when he was just a guy, but still.
