I think that Sancho's wife acts as an illustration of the former Sancho. However, she is a bit more outlandish than Sancho was. Her response to Sancho's arrival is comical: "she asked whether the as was well" (Cervantes, 473). Such concern for a donkey over a man could be compared to Sancho's love for Quixote; however, I doubt this and submit that she performs as a comical character exaggerating the former character of Sancho.
