Does it ever spend time with humans? Sounds like the dog is anxious. If the dog is not being enjoyed as a companion, but merely occupies a cage in the back yard or the barn, I think I would suggest finding a young couple with lots of energy and no kids who want a dog (and who have linoluem floors).
