"How big a step can it be?" she said, trying to make light of the matter. "I mean, I doubt that it's any bigger than any other steps I have had to take. Who knows? It might not be a step up at all. Maybe it will be a step down." Her eyes didn't look quite so certain of that as her voice sounded. She sighed, looking down at the crystal. This is a new life, she told herself. It's the chance to start over again, just like you've done all those other times.
