Questionnaires -- Nobumitsu, 06:43:20 01/21/05 Fri [1]

Dear ISC members,

Happy New Year!

How have you been? I hear that some of ISC members will take part in
"meijin-sen league" at shogi club 24. I hope you will win many games!

Questionnaires:
I must have asked same things. Again.. I'd like to ask you some things about
shogi for references. As we continue this activity, I think we need to know
these kind of things. I'd be very glad if you could answer.

1. How and where did you know about shogi?
2. How do you usually study shogi?
3. Your favorite opening
4. About how much time do you devote to shogi?
5. Which piece do you like best?
6. Which part of shogi do you like?
7. Do you have a particular interest in spreading shogi in your country?
8. How many shogi books do you have?
9. Are you satisfied with contents of ISC site?
10. How often do you play shogi at shogi club 24?
11. Don't you like handicapped game?
12. Are you interested in mail shogi?
13. Your other ways of enjoying shogi (for example, watching the game,
solving tsume)
14. Do you have any specific target? (for example, to get more than 300
rating in 3 years or.. to win the championship... anything is ok!)
15. Do you like "kanso-sen"?

I composed "tsume shogi" and they will soon be on the site. I'm planning
"game with comments" for the site too.

I hope you will enjoy shogi (more than ever)!

Sincerely,
Nobumitsu(all-or-nothing)

Shogi: International Design -- Elephant Chess Club, 15:46:06 07/24/04 Sat [1]

I produced a version of shogi using design and color to indicate the playing pieces. Friends and students enjoy playing shogi with this set. I don't think that they would have had the patience to learn the game without this internationalized version. Plastic playing pieces with wooden board/case (~13" x 14"). It sells for $20 + postage. To have a look, please visit my website at www.ElephantChess.com

Hello, if you go to http://groups.google.com/ and then rec.games.chess.misc and then scroll to June 30,2004 and find my posting "Wide range of quality Shogi tile sets" you will see how I found a site that sells many different sets of pieces and successfully purchased one.

Pieces are cheap for the quality (many are hand carved, you tell this by the presence of signed characters on the front edge of the King tile).

Regards, U.I.
Shipping is very cheap for the pieces (because they are lightweight), but the boards are so heavy that you may not wish to pay the high shipping costs from Japan.

It is the drama played in a large universe. I'm surprised that this drama is not only SF drama, but also human drama. There are various kinds of aliens in this drama and their thoughts and beliefs are very different from those of "United Federation of Planets" (it includes earth) in some time. But Captain Jean-Luc Picard suggests that there is a way that both of us will get along together.

I just thoght , i would make a comment aimed at any non Japanese Shogi players.
If you have just discovered the ISC and are thinking of trying it out, don't hesitate any longer!
As a low ranking player from Australia I have have nothig but praise for it. The players are friendly , the josekie (just follow the links) are a great way of learning)and last ,but definitely least ,the free shogi lessons from very high ranking players are fanatastic!
