Has anyone ever noticed that really good words often come from two spliced together

examples:

networking
gridlocked
turnpike

feel free to add

so long as they're real, not ones made up by dellar

car-rots. you plank! a car is something you drive, when something rots, it is decomposing.

'i' is not allowed. but edit-ion is fine as an ion is a charged atom.

inkjet is allowed but im not a fan of ones where the two words join to describe the final word. like an inkjet is a jet of ink. you get me?

You’ve certainly taken this to heart auff but it was my posting so it is my say

The compound words are better as you can individuate the ones they’re made from and this makes them more poetic and descriptive, which is why they sound so good.
Gridlock is good as you can see the mesh of the city from above and picture it all locked up with cars. It makes people seem small and below their creations.
Turnpike is much too good a word for what it is. Relating it to roads it makes it sound like some kind of spiral junction or something. Not a tollbooth road or whatever the hell it is.
The important thing is that they have no words in them that relate directly to what they mean.
So they’re not like Carstop or Tollroad.
Traffic jam is two words for this reason.
It sounds shit and makes you think of a load of cars immersed in jam so it doesn’t work.

A carrot’s just a carrot

no one listens to me

there are trillions of words made from others so there's just no point in listing them

I only want special ones

There's nothing good about anticlockwise
and anti isn't a word, just a prefix like tele

cabbage, carrots, potoatoes, swede, courgettes, brocolli, cauliflower, onion, parsnip, brussel sprouts, lettuce, peas, sweetcorn, aubergine, peppers, celery, radish, turnip, spinach etc...

just reminiscing about how wonderful vegetables truly are.

but what are peoples favourite fruits? we are partial to a bit of melon

oh, and yes we like snow patrol too. but laura likes keane more. and sara likes scissor sisters more than snow patrol, but laura likes them also, but not more than keane. but sara does like keane also.
