Gridlock is good as you can see the mesh of the city from above and picture it all locked up with cars. It makes people seem small and below their creations. Turnpike is much too good a word for what it is. Relating it to roads it makes it sound like some kind of spiral junction or something. Not a tollbooth road or whatever the hell it is. The important thing is that they have no words in them that relate directly to what they mean. So they’re not like Carstop or Tollroad. Traffic jam is two words for this reason. It sounds shit and makes you think of a load of cars immersed in jam so it doesn’t work. A carrot’s just a carrot Turnstile Highway
